Our indicative rates per square metre

Up to 100 m²: CHF 6/m². 100 to 500 m²: CHF 5/m². 500 to 2,000 m²: CHF 4/m². Over 2,000 m²: CHF 3/m². Over 5,000 m²: on request. Minimum per visit: CHF 250. Travel: CHF 50, free from 500 m². Annual cleaning contract (2 visits a year, for example spring and autumn): 15% off each visit, invoiced per visit. Prices depend on accessibility and panel condition. Free, personalised quote.

How the indicative estimate works

Multiply the panel surface by the rate of the applicable tier (minimum CHF 250), then add CHF 50 travel below 500 m². If only the approximate power is known, the estimator uses 1 kW ≈ 5.5 m² as a rough surface conversion. It does not replace an inspection or a site-specific quote.

What changes the final quote?

Two roofs of the same size can cost very different amounts to clean. These are the main factors.

Panel area

The larger the area, the higher the total. However, the rate per square metre falls as the area grows because equipment setup is spread over more panels.

Height and access

A single-storey roof can sometimes be cleaned from the ground with a pole. A two-storey roof or high agricultural building may require a lift, scaffolding or fall-protection equipment. The equipment and setup time affect the quote.

Roof pitch

A steep roof makes the work slower and more dangerous. A flat or gently pitched roof is easier to deal with.

How dirty the panels are

Light dust comes off quickly. Dried bird droppings, moss, pollen or agricultural deposits require more passes and time.

Cleaning frequency

A regularly maintained roof is quicker to clean than one left untouched for years. Our annual cleaning contract gives 15% off each visit.

An example for a home installation

As a rough guide, 1 kW of installed power corresponds to about 5–6 m² of panels, so a 10 kW system has roughly 50–60 m². With our rates: 50 m² × CHF 6 = CHF 300 + CHF 50 travel = CHF 350.

For 300 m²: 300 × CHF 5 = CHF 1,500 + CHF 50 travel = CHF 1,550. With an annual cleaning contract, each visit is 15% off. Lifts or scaffolding are not included and difficult access can increase the price.

Tips for comparing quotes

• Request a written quote showing the panel area and travel costs.
• Ask whether purified or demineralised water is included.
• Check the method: soft brush and water, never high pressure or aggressive chemicals.
• Check that the company uses suitable safety equipment.
• Compare the cost of repeated visits with buying equipment for an accessible site.

Whatever you choose, do not take risks on the roof: working at height without fall protection remains dangerous.

Hire a cleaner or do it yourself?

You could pay for cleaning each year, or buy or rent the equipment. These are the three options offered by Solar Equipement at the prices shown on our website.

Buy a brush

The PBT telescopic brush costs from CHF 299. It connects to a garden hose and can be used from the ground on an accessible home or small roof. For a large house, warehouse or agricultural roof, the motorised double-disc brush costs from CHF 1,390. The equipment remains yours for use year after year.

Rent the robot

For very large areas, the remote-controlled cleaning robot is available to rent. Mandatory training before the first rental costs CHF 219, paid once per operator. Rental: 1 day CHF 390, weekend (2 days) CHF 690, week (5 days) CHF 1,290. Deposit CHF 1,000, refunded on return in good condition. Final prices in CHF, not subject to VAT. Transport and terms on request. The robot can also be purchased for CHF 9,979.
